Commissions

One of my favorite things to create is a commissioned painting. I love the challenge of creating exactly what the collector has in mind. It requires open communication between the client and myself and frequent discussions of in progress images.

The commission process actually is very simple. I suggest that you begin by looking at my existing paintings so that you can select the background and technique that will best suit your taste and decor. Consider the size, scale and ultimate placement of the art piece in your home or office. I will provide you with a firm quote and time frame of when the piece will be completed. My preference is to take the reference photographs myself, however, I have worked with the client’s own photographs on several occasions. I will be happy to provide you with clear and simple ideas for poses, lighting and scale if you decide to use your own photographs for the commissioned painting. Here are examples of recent commissions and the collectors’ testimonials. Each one was an exciting challenge that I welcomed and embraced. CONTACT PAMELA.

Debra Tarr Commission

July 2020

While visiting the Canyon Road Art District in Santa Fe, art enthusiasts, Debra and Tony Tarr, came through our front door at INTRIGUE Gallery. They enjoyed watching me work on an in-progress triptych while we had a lively conversation about my artwork. Afterwards, the couple decided to commission a triptych based upon the one I was painting, however, it would have a customized palette, the pose of the three models reconfigured and be sized specifically to fit their wall space. It was a delight collaborating with the Tarrs on their commission and gratifying when they proclaimed that they “Loved” the finished painting.

“I was in Santa Fe with a friend of mine in October 2013, browsing all the art galleries - as most tourists do - and came upon one that interested me the most.”

‘Perhaps it was that the art had nothing to do with horses in the desert or wannabe O’Keefe art, but all to do with this artist having amazing talent and the fact that she stood above the rest in her technique, style and individuality of expression.

At the time I was taking portrait classes and this one particular gallery really caught and piqued my interest. The nice gentleman managing the gallery proceeded to tell me it was his wife, Pamela’s work. I lingered there for an hour quizzing him on her techniques. I was so impressed with Pamela’s work that the next day I returned hoping to meet the artist. I was not disappointed.

As a frustrated artist myself, I could not stop asking her questions about her art form. Pamela was so delightful and forthcoming. She might have thought I was going to steal her creative license. Not a chance! I only wish I had her talent and eye. I felt so guilty that I had spent so much time with her and had not bought anything. I remember saying, If I ever commission a portrait you’ll certainly hear from me! … yea … right!”

“Low and behold that following year I met the girl of my dreams and married her. On our Valentine’s Day together I surprised her with a life-sized Vermont teddy bear. On the following Valentine’s Day I commissioned Pamela to do her magic and she certainly nailed it. Thanks Pamela, you’re the best.”

“I am totally pleased with the portraits Pamela Frankel Fiedler painted for me. They are just what I had hoped for: excellent likenesses in Frankel Fiedler’s distinctive and sophisticated style. I have been an enthusiast of her work since I first saw one of her paintings several years ago and am delighted to now have the two portraits in my collection. The paintings were completed on schedule, and my approval was sought at every step in the process. Pamela repeatedly encouraged me to suggest any changes, up to and including the actual receipt of the canvasses. The quality of the materials is first rate, and the packing and shipping were excellent.”

“Emergent Victory”

"This commissioned painting was a collaboration in every sense: A photo of Slot Canyon in Antelope Valley, AZ; a photo of me, a dancer, as I moved; brought together by the articulate and talented hand of a painter named Pamela Frankel Fiedler. Canyon and dancer were not just painted by Pamela - not simply a woman emerging from rock. As we worked together on the painting, I found Pamela had made a story of my life, of a woman who had spent a lifetime in search of spiritual freedom. I wrote a poem titled, “Emergent Victory”, in honor of the piece, my dedication to this consciousness, and the realization that we so often feel stuck when we are, in fact, unaware that we are the blade. Pamela’s work is not just technically brilliant and beautiful - it is soulful, sensitive and somewhat psychic. Her openness to working together was stunning to me. I treasure it, and her.”
